General rules
The game is played with eight standard 52-card decks.
The goal of the game is to score as many points as possible but not more than 21.
The “Blackjack” combination can only be formed with the first two cards.
Card values
In Blackjack, the cards have the following values:
– 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 – face value, for example: Five is equal to 5 points.
– Jack (J), Queen (Q), King (K) – 10 points.
– Ace (A) – 1 point or 11 points.
– Ace (A) in soft hand – 11 points.
Bets
Blackjack table can accommodate up to 7 players.
The game is played by the player/players against the dealer only.
Card draw
The cards are dealt clockwise.
Step 1.
The players receive one card face up, and then the dealer deals a card face up to himself.
Step 2.
The players receive a second card face up, while the dealer’s second card stays face down.
Step 3.
Players are allowed to improve their hands with extra cards if the total value is less than 21.
Also, there are additional bets:
Doubling.
The player can double his bet and get only one extra card.
Split.
In case the player has a pair, for example 7 + 7, he can split this hand in two.
Then each hand can be improved with its own cards.
In case the player splits his hand with A + A, then he can take only one card for each hand.
A split hand with two cards that add up to 21 points is not considered “Blackjack”.
Excess of points
If the total value of the player’s hand exceeds 21, it is an excess of points. The player loses his bet on this hand.
The same applies to the dealer: if the dealer busts, he loses his hand.
Dealer cards
After opening his second card, the dealer is obliged to take extra cards if the sum of his hand is 16 or less.
If the sum of his hand is 17 or more, the dealer does not take additional cards and stands.
Soft hand
A hand is considered soft if it includes an Ace + other card, except for “Blackjack”.
Insurance
If the dealer’s first card is an Ace, the player can purchase insurance to offset the risk that the dealer has “Blackjack”.
The insurance amount is equal to one half of the base bet.
Before any extra cards are dealt to the player, the dealer checks his second card for the presence of the “Blackjack”.
Bet behind
The player can also place an additional bet on another player’s hand.
The payouts and the rules for the bet behind are the same as for the main game.
Payouts
Winning hand: 1:1.
Win with “Blackjack”: 3:2
Winning on insurance against the dealer’s “Blackjack”: 2:1.
